Jessica Hill is a super talented wedding and boudoir photographer located right here in Portland, OR. We love how she captures the playfulness, fun and love between her couples. She’ll be speaking at Mystic Seminars in January, so don’t miss her talk about how to thrive in a saturated market. More information here.
How did you get started in photography?
I discovered photography during high school when I took an art summer class and then majored in photography at the University of Michigan. I started photographing weddings during college in 2001, and fell in love with the challenge and joy of it, and have been doing it ever since!
What do you love most about shooting weddings?
I love the energy of a wedding, the smiles, the laughs, and getting to document these relationships between families and friends that make life so rich.
What do you find to be the most effective marketing tools?
Honestly, a good simple and clean blog that showcases your best work! I use social media to then highlight the best of the best images and direct traffic to my blog. My favorites are Instagram and Facebook.
Why do you think albums and prints are so important to offer to clients?
Having an actual thing to hold, frame and share gives your clients an archive that gets the files out of cloud or off of the flash drive and into their home to pass on for generations. Also, it’s a great way to make extra income during the slower months.
How has Fundy Designer helped your workflow or business?
In SO many ways! I used to create 40 page albums in photoshop with upwards of 12 layers going on at the same time! Also, an album revision used to be a headache because it took so long, now it literally takes minutes.
