What a fantastic album. I’ve been lucky enough to see Jim speak a few times and had the pleasure of talking to him personally. The first and foremost key to a successful album is preparing the client. Show the client fantastic albums and let them know that you are going to be shooting for a fantastic album, that you’ll be telling their story.

Secondly, you’ll notice that most spreads have 1-5 images on them. There are only a few spreads with more than 5 images on them. Don’t over-saturate your albums with images. Let the images speak for themselves.

Lastly, I’ll point out that Jim allows his images to breath. He leaves space around his images. Even though he has a background design in the images, this is referred to as white space. Leave plenty of white space around your images, let them speak for themselves.

We hope you loved this album as much as we did, be sure to check out Jim Garner’s workshop here.
