This is probably our most common tech support issue for Windows users. Fundy Designer is ultra cautious with it’s auto save function and saves multiple times every minute. Because of this, some of the more aggressive anti-virus software out there will often try to prevent these saves. This slowing of reading and writing to the project file results in a super slow experience.
How To Fix It
First step is to open all of your anti-virus and firewall software and authorize Fundy Designer.
Please Google how to do this for the software that you are using.
Don’t Use Webroot or Malware Bytes
We recommend not using Webroot or Malware Bytes. Both of these pieces of software are overly aggressive and usually do not rank well among recommended programs. They both cause a lot of problems with Fundy Designer. Note that we’ve seen instances of Webroot slow a network down from being on one Windows computer. Even the Macs connected to that network were experiencing slowness.
Ninety percent of all slowness issues can be resolved in this way.
Possibly Work on Local Drives
While this issue is less common, some users report slowness when they are working on a shared drive over a network. While most of the time this will work without problems, a slow network will cause Fundy Designer to run slow.
Unfortunately in this case, there isn’t much we can do to help as we can’t access your local network to diagnose.
One option is to hardwire into your network over an Ethernet cable as this is much faster than WIFI.
The More sure fire fix is to move any project you are working on onto your local computer’s drive while you work. Then when finished, copy the project back onto your local drive.
We hope that this helps you run Fundy Designer at top speed. If these tips did not help you, please contact support so they can give you some more options to try.
Run in Admin Mode
Operating systems are getting more and more protective and sometimes even if we check everything, there might still be a system setting or software blocking Fundy Designer from auto saving and that is what makes it slow.
You can set Fundy Designer to run in Admin mode, this basically makes it a super user of your computer. Here are the steps to set up a custom shortcut (pin) to run Fundy Designer in admin mode all the time.
First, find Fundy Designer Suite in your computer in your programs folder.
Next, right click on the program file and choose Properties
Next, choose to Run in Admin mode from the Advanced Tab.
