It’s no secret that Square is the coolest new way to take payment in person. Just hook it up to your phone or iPad and you are swiping credit cards in your studio, at the park or in your clients’ house. Well, Square has raised the game with an extremely cool Cash Register app for your iPad. The app is free and can run as your cash register. It’s obviously set up and marketed toward small businesses with high volume, like a coffee shop, but it’s so flexible, it would easily work for a studio.
Some Caveats
In order to use it effectively, you need a Square account, which is only available in the United States. But, I’m sure that Square will expand or someone local in your country will step up and offer something similar. Square processes all the credit cards for you (they are your merchant account). The good news? No monthly fees and just 2.75% per transaction. That’s pretty dang good.
The Goods
You can just tap, tap, tap to add products. You can add discounts, rewards, etc.
You can create your products very easily in the back end.
Run the Credit Card right on your iPad.
The client just signs with their finger.
Now, much of this you can do with just the regular Square app. But by having the register, you can add products and instantly have an itemized receipt for your client. Learn more right here.
